Shedding?

My sister got a bp today named Cleopatra, and said I could play with it whenever I wanted. It’s shedding and she heard something about putting it in warm water. How long and when would I do that?

Hatchling feeding

Not a novice to pythons and Boas but I am having some trouble getting 2 hatchings to eat. they are about a month old, one has shed but still not feeding. The snake is still plump from the yolk so I am not stressing it now but I have tried the bag trick, temperatures are good. I have tried FT and Live, Hoppers and rat pups of appropriate size. Any thoughts? another week or two and I might Assist feed them.

Best way to get snake tame/adjusted to me?

I am getting a BP soon for the first time and I love them but am still a bit jumpy/shaky holding one, especially when it coils back (I think its going to strike me). What are some ways to get a new snake used to me holding it and to make sure I help it have a tame temperament? I hope to hold my snake a lot including letting it chill on my shoulders as I go about my day. Thanks for all your help!

Heating a snake cage

We have a 7 year old ball python and she keeps burning her belly with the under tank heater. What other means can we use to heat her tank instead of the under tank heater?

When should i feed her again…

My brother just got a bp and gave her to us. He just fed her two days ago, but fed her a small mouse (pinkie size). She is approximately 4ft and I know the rule of thumb on sizes. Just wondering when I should feed her a normal feeding since she didn’t have a big enough one.

Getting a Ball Python

My wife and I have been talking about getting a snake for about a week now, and today at her work someone just happened to come in and ask if anyone wanted a snake. It’s a ball python. I’ve been reading all day, but have a few questions.

1. I’ve read most places that say the temperature can be allowed to drop at night, but doesn’t explicitly say it’s necessary. I’m wondering if the tank must be cooler at night, or if it just can be? I don’t want to forget to turn the light off, or on and have ill effects.

2. The snake is about 1.5 feet long, and about the size of a 50 cent piece, can anyone estimate the age?

3. Can frozen mice/rats just be thawed overnight, or do they need to be soaked in warm water?

Thanks for the help.
