3′ x 3′ wood enclosure

I just got a 3′x3′ wood terrarium for my 3 1/2 y.o. BP. I installed a ledge for him a foot of the bottom. Got a 150 watt night bulb and am going to check the temp in the morning.

I have read that BP’s love belly heat. It won’t be possible with this new terrarium that I have. Anything I can do to make sure that he is healthy and happy?

BTW – Craigslist is awesome. Got the 3′x3′ and a 4′ wood terrarium for free. Someone was upgrading and passed their old ones on. I am going to do the same with my older cages.

First time feeding

We feed our snake for the first time today. We thawed out the mouse. We placed the snake in a seperate enclosure. Dangled the snake infront of the snakes face a little, and the placed the mouse in the area around the snake and close the enclosure. It is about an hour later and he has not eaten the mouse yet. We have to go out and will not return home until about six hours later. My first question is how long do you wait. My second question is if he or she does not eat do you just try the next week to feed him or her again. My third question is the mouse that was thawed should be thrown away and not refrozen I assume but just thought i should ask. My fourth is did we do the right process as far as introducing the mouse to the snake in the first place.

New Owner: Where do I Start?

Good Day. I am a mother of three children. I have a 5-year-old son, 8-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter. Last night we just purchased a ball python, a bearded dragon and a fish. I know you are probably saying Wow, but we had a pupply who became really sick, and we asked our children if they wanted to have another pet but they wanted to have an individual pet.
Anyway the point of this question is to reach out for any suggestions regarding new owners of a ball python. He or she who was named benny is about 12 inches long. He is primarily my 8-year-olds pet. We brought the initial start up enclosure kit. Benny ate this past weekend, so the pet smart rep. said benny eats once a week. We put water in his enclosure. Benny has a heat lamp for day and night. Benny has the chips on the bottom of his enclosure. We were instructed to let him get adjust to his new enviornment for four days and then we can touch him for about 20 minutes each day to get use to us. Also to feed him in a seperate enclosure. We brought frozen mice, which we were instructed to boil for approximately five minutes before feeding, but to not over boil because the smell would be awful. Any further guidance would surely be appreciated.

python feeding

ok i have what i think is a female ball python…what i mean by i think is i’m not certain…it hasn’t been sexed…and so far it seems to be a girl…anyways when i got her she was on a hunger strike and that lasted for like four months after i got her…then she started to eat only mice…she is about four years old and 3,5 feet long…slender body and small head…idk if she should be at adult mice or rats?…..should i try to feed her a rat or not? she also will only eat live

FEEDING

My baby Ball Python attempted to eat a rat pup that was to big for her. My fault actually, I did not realize immediately that it was to large, and thought that she would not attempt it if it was. But I guess being so young she was adept @ sizing yet. We (her and I) worked together, and were able to get it back out of her mouth, very carefully so as not to pull out any teeth, etc. She has eaten since then, twice I believe, but seems to have some jaw issues, and some soft tissue sticking out of the corners of her mouth @ times. Should I be overly concerned about this? And is there anything I can do?
Also the first time she shed, all but the skin covering both her eyes and the area in between on top of her head, come off. The skin is still attached over those areas, and very dry over her eyes. I have been soaking her, is there anything else I can do? And do you think it has damaged her eyes?

Thank you so much!
